Endeavouring to experience the presence of god within
— Swami Ramdas

The key aspect of Sadhana is to feel the presence of the Divine within ourselves before recognising it externally. This can be achieved through mentally repeating the Divine Name, leading to a still mind and immersion in Absolute Love. Through silent meditation, we observe ourselves as the true Self, detached from the mind’s activities. This inward journey reveals that bodily functions and essential aspects of existence are controlled by the Divine Power, including the Life Force, Consciousness and Primordial Intelligence. Through this process, we deepen our understanding of the Divine Presence within and in all aspects of the Creation.
Methods To Still The Mind
To still the mind, we have to systematically train our mind. To achieve this,
four methods have been suggested
- Concentration on the sound of the Name.
- Concentration on some form or light.
- Bringing in the God-dimension to wherever the mind wanders, that is, identifying everything with God.
- And lastly, trying to be the witness of the mind. By watching the mind, we detach ourselves from the mind and become a witness of the mind. As we begin to watch the mind, it will gradually cease to be. The Witness or Awareness alone remains.
