Guru Purnima
What is the true meaning of Guru Purnima? It is not merely a celebration, but a sacred reminder of the Guru’s role in awakening us to our true nature. As Beloved Papa says, “We are not what we assume ourselves to be.” By His grace, the journey inward begins with the Guru.
At first, we revere the outer form. But gradually, we recognise it is the ideal the Guru embodies—selfless love, simplicity, and egolessness—that truly inspires. Guru Purnima urges us to live these values daily. As Swami Chidananda Ji Maharaj beautifully said, the Guru’s divine conduct must live within us. Every thought, word and action becomes a reflection: Would my Guru approve? Papa’s universality must guide our life. “Think, speak, and act in terms of the Universal, not the individual.” On Guru Purnima, when we offer flowers at the Guru’s feet, let it not be ritual alone, but a heartfelt prayer: “May Your universal vision live through me.”
